Amanda served on several boards and currently is on the Association of Batterer’s Intervention Program board and served as chair for the Advocacy Council for Abused Deaf Children for three years. Amanda graduated from California State University, Northridge and Gallaudet University. She has an awesome supportive (in other words – patience) partner and two rambunctious kids (14 and 12) – they keep her on her toes.
Amanda G. Somdal is a Californian licensed clinical social worker. She is a homebased therapist at Five Acres (in the Los Angeles area), and a director of a deaf batterers’ intervention program, My Choice BIP. She has worked at Valley Trauma Center, DC Rape Crisis Center, DeafREACH, Family Circle, Samadana and Saint John’s Health Center, Deaf Program. Amanda loves giving workshops on a wide range of issues from mental health issues, sexual assault, and domestic violence to deaf culture and mental health interpreting.
